Mayor Jimmy Steadman is a lifelong member of the Morton community with a strong commitment to the city, its schools and its young people.

A 1976 graduate of Morton High School, Steadman continued his education at East Central Community College, graduating in 1978. He spent 40 years working in the automotive industry, beginning his career at the Chevrolet dealership in Morton and later working in Forest.

Football has also been a major part of Mayor Steadman’s life. For more than 40 years, he has officiated high school football and has spent 25 years working with Morton’s youth football program. Despite the responsibilities of serving as mayor, he continues to devote time to coaching and supporting local athletes.

Mayor Steadman also serves as president of the Morton High School Touchdown Club and is a familiar face on the sidelines at Morton Panther football games. On Saturdays, he enjoys cheering on the Ole Miss Rebels.

He is a member of First Baptist Church of Morton and, in his spare time, enjoys working on antique vehicles.

As mayor, Steadman brings his longtime dedication to Morton into public service, working to support the city’s residents, schools, youth and continued growth while preserving the strong sense of community that makes Morton home.
